#58 – The Start of Something New . . .

After a yummy dinner of Ritz Oven Fried Chicken Fingers and The Food Nanny’s Carrot Cake (with crunchy homemade powdered sugar in the frosting – sorry Paul) for dessert, GingerSnap taught our Family Home Evening lesson.

She shared a sweet story by President Henry B. Eyring about how we can show our love for Jesus this time of year.  Then she shared this really fun and inspiring video of The World’s LARGEST Choir!

For our activity, we FINALLY decorated our Christmas Tree.  Last Friday we put all the decorations out but Paul had some appointments he needed to get to.  So we held off decorating the tree for another time and TONIGHT was the night!

El Gringo even got to put the star on the top of the tree.

It was a simple, yet beautiful evening.  The kids are growing up so fast.  There aren’t as many quarrels about where ornaments should go or who has more ornaments than someone else.  It is rather sad and enjoyable all at the same time because as they grow older, they are also preparing to leave our home one day.

Thankfully in moments like this, there is one reason to rejoice!  Because of Jesus Christ, FAMILIES CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER!  No matter what the distance, situation, strife, conflict, or other reasons families are pulled apart, they can ALL be brought back together again.  I truly do believe this.

My Christmas wish this year is for ALL FAMILIES to remember a special memory that ties them to their loved ones, allowing those who have felt lost or alone to feel that they belong somewhere, once more.

I am excited that Costa Rica has been encouraged to do the #LighttheWorld Challenge this year.

We REALLY enjoyed last year’s challenge and hope that others will join us in this uplifting experience.  I cannot think of a better way to chase away the holiday blues!

Here are the videos, in case you would like to see them too!

Thanks for listening,
