#217 – My FAVORITE President Nelson Quote

I can actually say that I love and willing trust this man right here!

President Russell M. Nelson

I have had the AWESOME opportunity and privilege to listen to 46 speeches that President Nelson has delivered over his lifetime as an Apostle of God.  I still have 29 more speeches (talks) to go and I am loving every minute of it.  I can honestly say that I have fallen in love with this man’s ideals, beliefs, attitudes, actions and way of life.  I have thoroughly enjoyed this experiment and I am hopeful that whenever we receive a new Prophet, I can apply this same experience and fall in love with future Prophets as well.  At least I hope.  (Maybe even past Prophets as well?)

My FAVORITE quote from President Russell M. Nelson was given a few years ago during his October 2015 Conference talk.  I had just become a BRAND NEW Homeschooling Mother and I was still slightly terrified each morning I awoke to my new reality.  I remember fasting and praying for the help I needed to do what I felt the Lord had literally called me to do and great comfort came from then Elder Nelson’s talk entitled “A Plea to My Sisters.”  (I love that he used the word MY!)

Coupled with a quote from President Boyd K. Packer, he declared:

“We need women who are organized and women who can organize. We need women with executive ability who can plan and direct and administer; women who can teach, women who can speak out. …

“We need women with the gift of discernment who can view the trends in the world and detect those that, however popular, are shallow or dangerous.”8 – Boyd K. Packer

Today, let me add that we need women who know how to make important things happen by their faith and who are courageous defenders of morality and families in a sin-sick world. We need women who are devoted to shepherding God’s children along the covenant path toward exaltation; women who know how to receive personal revelation, who understand the power and peace of the temple endowment; women who know how to call upon the powers of heaven to protect and strengthen children and families; women who teach fearlessly.

These few paragraphs ALONE have seen me through my first 3 years of homeschooling my children.  Every . . . single . . . time I was met with opposition THIS QUOTE came to me and kept me grounded to what I KNEW in my heart and mind to be true.  I am SO GRATEFUL that President Nelson is the kind of man that he is, that he would bestow such a request from our Father in Heaven to help his sisters because women such as these . . . for that is exactly what I am now striving to become!

Just yesterday, I heard another talk of his that hit me so profoundly that I wanted to remember this talk always.  So what better place to keep the talk safe and sound than right here on my blog.  I hope you will enjoy it too!  Also, maybe you would like to start this challenge?  The goal is to listen to ALL of President Nelson’s Conference talks from his first in April 1984 to the present.  It truly is only 16 minutes a day and I can’t imagine you won’t fall in love with this man too.  He sure is someone special!

Thanks for listening,
