In the soon to be retiring “Faith in God” booklets for Primary age children, 7 and older, it states . . .
Curly Cook is working toward completing this booklet by the end of the year, so she is working on completing the highlighted activity above, over the next few weeks. She is working to learn how to “be prepared for school each day” by reminding herself WHY she is going to school.
Her why was discussed at length yesterday morning. We talked how “going to school” isn’t just about “being at school,” it is about seeking to know truth so we can then act on that truth and become more like our Father in Heaven.
After our discussion, she worked diligently on a reminder that she made specifically for her iPad. This reminder will be there for her each time she turns it on. I hope to also be there for her, to remind her about her purpose for learning out of the best books and to then practice what they teach.
This morning I have found myself re-listening to President Nelson’s address to the women of our church, from last Saturday night’s Women’s Conference.
This address was SO POWER PACKED, I only got to minute 3:08 before I had two full pages of impressions, learning, understanding of truth, and encouragement flow from my heart, mind and soul onto them.
I decided to stop where I was and exhort (encourage, cheer, advise, and urge arguments to a good deed) a few of my most close and cherished relationships. Now I will venture downstairs to lead and direct my family in our Family Devotional, as well as our History lesson for the day.
In the past, I would push myself to “learn it all in one sitting, or one day”, thinking that THIS was the best way to become better. Instead, I lean on the words of my daughter’s Faith in God booklet and “seek learning.”
To learn is to . . .
So . . . I have learned something this morning I did not yet know about, and now I am going to go practice its truth by living it and possibly share this new truth with my children. Thus “teach” them too! Then tomorrow, I will pick up where I left off and learn even more!
I’m thankful for the opportunity I have to learn from the BEST books!! I am thankful to have been taught this morning by President Russell M. Nelson, a Prophet of God, that if I “spend my time learning much”, I will be better prepared to seek for the things of a better.
