I had so much fun last Friday!
GingerSnap and I went on a “Mom and Me.” This is what I am now going to call alone time with Mom, where just one kid gets to come with me on my weekly errands. This week I needed to go to PriceSmart (our country’s Sam’s/Costco) but I felt I should also take GingerSnap out to get some essentials . . .
Like a new sunhat ☀ for her fair skin. ✔
She loved this one with flowers on it!
She also felt it was time to “grow up” a bit and get a new purse/backpack. ✔ Que Linda!!! (Super cute!)
After grabbing a few more must-haves, we grabbed some lunch at Chili’s 🌶. Tex-mex is one of her FAVORITE foods, mine too, so it was a win-win! ✔
Next came PriceSmart, after grabbing a new pair of shoes at Payless for both of us.✔ Then we went shopping at Pequeno Mundo (Small World), which is one of the many Chinese warehouses in Costa Rica that sell pretty much everything, in search of some new clothes.
We found some really great pieces for GingerSnap . . .
others not so great.
But we did find enough, and that was what we were after. ✔ Getting what we needed done is such a great feeling!
Honestly, JOY is what I felt helping GingerSnap last Friday. The experience felt a bit like heaven to me, watching the gratitude and immense enjoyment GingerSnap felt as she gathered all the items she felt she needed for herself at that time.
I kept thinking of the scriptures that we so happened to have read that very morning, Matthew 7: 7-12, which read . . .
7 ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
GingerSnap has had to patiently wait for this day to come. She has needed some things sooner than others, and others quite awhile ago, but instead of fretting she chose to practice patience and “knock.”
What an example she is to me!
I indeed felt this truth that day because I too have needed some things and they are starting to come but also I needed Heavenly Father’s help to bless GingerSnap with what she needed. . . and boy was it fun! What a JOY it was to experience this kind of day and it hasn’t stopped. Next week is Curly Cook’s turn!
Thanks for listening,
